Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey; Gene's lifelong interest in media, communications, and writing began early as a kid growing up in the inner city section of Five Corners on Newark Avenue. It was there that the seeds of a career were planted as Gene heard diverse languages and was intrigued how people from different cultures expressed similar feelings with different words. He spent many afternoons at the corner library pouring through books, archived newspapers, and recordings learning the history of media and literature as the Five Corners Branch happened to be the media center of the city library system. In elementary school at seventh grade, he asked to lead the new audio/visual club that began recording school plays and other events and in high school resurrected the defunct student newspaper as editor while writing a monthly column in the local Newhouse owned newspaper, the legendary, Jersey Journal.

Intent on pursuing a career as a journalist before he graduated high school, it was at The Jersey Journal that as a freshman in college Gene convinced the editor-in-chief to give him a chance as a stringer and after gradually proving his talent and abilities covering mundane meetings and events was assigned to cover larger stories, City Halls, and politics culminating in his front-page story reporting on the historic waterfront referendum that would transform the waterfront of Hudson County and New Jersey. Gene also worked as a pollster for NBC News and wrote reports that appeared in major newspapers and the Associated Press.

Gene's pivot to Public Relations and Communications was a result of the first major media contraction and an inquiry if he would be interested in helping to create a media relations program and updated Office of Communications at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City. What he thought would be an interim project until he landed back in the world of news reporting turned out to be the beginning of a diverse, exciting, and ever-expanding career in communications, public relations, and marketing.

Since those days at the university where he met legendary ambassadors, politicians, entertainers, and scholars as he coordinated and publicized their visits, Gene has continued on in this capacity serving in leading roles creating publicity, building and promoting brands, acting as public liasion and presenting executive leaders to audiences. He has served a diverse collection of organizations from non-profits and small businesses to entrepreneurial start-ups and industry leaders including IBM, Nikon, Gartner while generating media exposure a just as a diverse collection of outlets ranging from The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and networks CBS, C-SPAN,NBC and Fox to syndicated radio shows and magazines of all interests including Popular Science, Smithsonian, and Fast Company. One particular highlight was securing an invite for a CEO to speak at a congressional hearing on the future of workplace flexibility and generating coverage in Congressional Quarterly - years before the pandemic changed the workplace and office setting!

Besides his continuing role as an experienced expert in Public Relations and Communications, Gene has created a podcast,'Mediums, Messages, and More', writes a newsletter, and continues to evolve as his roles and the industry itself changes.
